We made this decision in November 2003, at the same time as the decision to install a new Radio Frequency Scanning system throughout our complex. The apples season begins for us in early February and considering the unfortunate timing of Christmas we successfully began our apple season with a fully functional and integrated Coolstore inventory, RF Scanning system. The hard work and great support we received from Radfords was instrumental in the success of this project, as was their willingness to work with our RF hardware and software suppliers. We are very pleased with the system and the way that Radfords support their product and are continually looking for feedback and suggestions to enhance their software. With over seven million trays this season at three main sites, we handle more than 10% of the national crop. Any software we use must meet industry and MAF protocols. We choose to use Kiwi Plus because we consider it the best kiwifruit packhouse and coolstore inventory management programme available. Radfords have developed software that reflects individual requirements while being able to carry out industry-generic functions. The software is comprehensive yet simplistic. It is definitely user-friendly and compares well with other systems. In the six or seven years we have been using Radford Software, we haven't failed to be impressed by their professionalism and service.
